Below is an update of activities at Laniado Hospital since the beginning of the “Rising Lion” campaign. Many departments had to be moved into protected areas (see video below), once again stressing the need to build our new Sheltered Emergency Hospital.
Laniado held situation assessment meetings in cooperation with the IDF Home Front Command and the Ministry of Health. The hospital is preparing for complex emergency scenarios, out of a sense of mission and public responsibility for half a million residents of Netanya and the Hasharon area.
Extensive preparations carried out in all departments of the medical center include:
* It was decided to proactively evacuate some stable patients to prepare for additional injured civilians, IDF soldiers and security forces, as necessary.
* A staff dining room was converted into a hospitalization area with beds ready for immediate admission of trauma patients.
* Patients were moved to protected areas.
* The intensive care unit moved to a fully protected area.
* Emergency Preparedness headquarters in the hospital has been reinforced and prepared with equipment.
* Medical, logistics, and security teams are working around the clock.
* Designated protected areas have opened with the capacity to treat approximately 45 patients at a time in the ER.
* Laniado has prepared to receive a large number of trauma patients, if necessary.
* The delivery and neonatal departments, and the pediatric emergency room are protected. Maternity, orthopedics and pediatrics departments have protected sections.
Indeed, this is the reason why we continue to plan for the future and are building the new Sheltered Emergency Hospital at a cost of $48 million so that every patient can shelter in place.
