Lydia Lanxner, veteran Director of Nursing in the ICU Department is a very busy woman, with a very responsible position.
She wears another hat as well.
She is also the Director of Emergency preparedness and training at the Hospital. She acts as the liaison with the IDF and various government bodies and is responsible for preparing the entire hospital and the staff for a wide variety of scenarios.
Terrorist attacks, Industrial accidents, mass casualty events, earthquakes, missile attacks, Chemical attacks, nuclear attacks etc. etc.
Hospital staff train regularly for all these scenarios in order to be prepared at all times. The hospital emergency command and control center is always on full alert and ready to function on a few minutes notice.
Recently, Lydia represented the hospital by giving a series of lectures to various communities in South Florida on the topic of: “Emergency Preparedness- Because in Israel anything can Happen”.
She was also invited to visit the Emergency Center of HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Palm Beach County in order to share her knowledge and learn from the experience of the staff that prepare for emergency situations as well.
